The Detroit Public Schools Community District Foundation, alongside Detroit Chapter #9 of Vietnam Veterans of America, Inc., has created an opportunity for 2 – graduating cadets who have demonstrated discipline and leadership. High School Junior ROTC programs are essential, in part, for the discipline and leadership skills taught to all cadets. Detroit Chapter #9 of Vietnam Veterans of America, Inc. (VVA9) has been a beacon for Vietnam veterans in the Detroit Metropolitan area. Many of VVA9’s members would not have qualified for a college scholarship based on their high school academic performance. Yet, following their discharge from active duty, these same members became successful in their careers. Assistance for post-secondary education is provided to Unsung Graduates, who have confronted their challenges. Two graduating scholars can apply and be awarded $2,500.
