I appreciate the opportunity to be the first summer guest blogger! I have enjoyed getting to know so many DPS Alumni and Foundation supporters as I have begun my still-new role as Alumni Development Specialist for the Foundation.
Since starting this job, I have really enjoyed hearing alumni talk about their favorite teachers and how they still remember lessons taught inside and outside of the classroom. I am also warmed by the sense of pride that alumni have for their DPS elementary, middle and high schools and for Detroit itself. There is a real spirit of hope for the City and the future of Detroit Public School students that we also share here at the Foundation.
This summer, as you hopefully take some time off and step back from your busy schedules, your thoughts may turn to your childhood, growing up and your experience in DPS. We would like to hear your memories, particularly about school and the impact your experience has had on your career and also your relationship with friends.
We are connected to twice as many alumni now as we were at the beginning of this year. But we have a long way to go. So, we would appreciate hearing from you. Please share your story of your start at DPS and where your career and your life have taken you since.
Please contact me, anytime, at esanders@dpsfdn.org. I look forward to hearing from you soon!
