Welcome Back to School, Detroit!

Aug 28, 2024Blogs, News

We kicked off the 2024-25 school year with a legendary Back-to-School event at Fisher Upper Magnet School, and the excitement was palpable! Produced by Justin Kimpson, Sr. Director of the Ford Community Center East, and supported by Ford Philanthropy, this annual event has been a cornerstone of the community since the Center opened in 2017. Every year, it brings together students, families, and community leaders to set a positive tone for the year ahead, and this year was no exception.

As the fiduciary partner of the Ford Community Center East at Fisher Magnet Upper School, the Detroit Public Schools Community District Foundation was proud to support and participate in this incredible day. Our hope for the 2024-25 school year is to see every DPSCD student rise to excellence, empowered by the resources and support they need to achieve their fullest potential.

From backpacks filled with school supplies to a 360 photobooth capturing countless smiles, the event had it all. Community leaders, including Fire Chief Harris, City Councilman Coleman A. Young, Jr., Kappa alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., and Dr. Green, Principal of Fisher Upper and Lower, joined in to cheer on our students. It was a day filled with positivity, pride, and promise for the future.
