On February 27 the Detroit Chinese Business Association will hold its annual gala at the Motor City Casino Hotel. Once again this year the Association has invited the Detroit Public Schools Foundation to host a silent auction in conjunction with the gala. We are pleased to have this opportunity to broaden the communities’ knowledge of the Foundation, at the same time that we raise some funds to support our students. Beyond the ability to contribute to the financial goals of the Foundation, this relationship provides an opportunity to mutually educate the education community and the Chinese Business community about our respective cultures. Knowing each other will develop the framework for working together to achieve common goals. This year, the year of the sheep, is an ideal time to continue to create an environment of collaboration and respect.
According to legend, Lord Buddha called all the animals to him before departed the Earth. Only 12 came. As a reward, he named a year after each of them in the order that they arrived. 2015 is the year of the sheep: an auspicious year filled with peace and harmony.
