On March 28, 2016, Pamela Moore became the third President and CEO of the Detroit Public Schools Foundation. The 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization has been creating and enhancing educational opportunities for Detroit Public Schools students since 2009.
With 30 plus years’ experience in the areas of non-profit management and public sector operations, public policy, grant and contract administration, union negotiations and employment law, Pamela led the transition of the city’s $60MM workforce agency to a nonprofit organization in four short months. By assembling a dynamic team, the agency experienced a 400% increase in job placements, realized 30% operating cost savings, decreased contract and vendor payment processing times by 80%, and met or exceeded all performance metrics.
Ms. Moore has served at the pleasure of three Mayors and has been recognized for her ability to attract and sustain public-private partnerships, manage large-scale complex projects, and create high-performing, transparent, accountable agencies. Prior to coming to work for the City of Detroit, she spent 16 years at the Karmanos Cancer Institute where she managed federally-funded research grants and contracts.
Ms. Moore is a Cass Technical High School graduate, received a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Finance (Financial Markets and Investments) and Master’s in Business Administration from Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan.
Pamela sits on the U.S. Secretary Tom Perez’ Advisory Committee on Apprenticeship, is a Certified Housing Development Finance Professional, a 2010 Graduate of the Detroit Regional Chamber’s Leadership Detroit Program, and a 2014 Michigan Chronicle Woman of Excellence. The native Detroiter is a Founding member and on the Board of Governors of Empowerment Church, enjoys world travel, engaging our youth, promoting healthy living and is a dance instructor.
